Gardening Hesitations
I had big intentions to garden this week and do a bunch of transplanting. But it pretty much rained Monday and Tuesday, and yesterday our lawn was treated. (Which was very much needed.) So all I managed to accomplish was moving one little plant. Of course, lack of opportunity wasn’t the only factor in my lack of progress. My own perceived incompetence and fear that I had no idea was I was doing, certainly left me handicapped and hesitant to proceed…

I can weed. (Who can’t?) But ask me to identify a plant or start to think about appropriate conditions and sun exposure, and you’ve lost me. So when it comes to actual gardening, I have a lot to learn and am still very much in need of help. Maybe that’s why I like container gardening so much. I get to start over year after year, and if I totally fail in my plant selection—I can quickly start over because it’s not as intimidating as a vast plot of dirt.

This year I’ve been thinking about adding a few hanging containers to the mix. We have a few hooks in place around our deck from previous owners, and after spying these beauties I might just have to give it a shot.

Tell me, are you hesitant to garden too? Or is it something that you love and you just jump in there?

When we bought our house I had no idea what I was doing in the garden but I dug right in! I’ve found that most perennials are hard to kill once they’re established, so don’t be too scared to move stuff around. My motto is: “If it dies, get something new (and better) to replace it!”
